Bubble Tea 泡沫奶茶

Bubble tea is dying out?? I dont think so! If it can make it in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Singapore, why not Kuching? Up to this day, I havent found a very good quality bubble tea like I used to have in Taiwan here. Think have to make it by myself...

Ding Bian Hu 鼎边糊

This is an authentic Foo Chow dish. I had it since I was just a kid...my friend and I (four of us) can eat up to 18 bowls at one time! I think the taste is quite subjective, some might love it some might not. Hard to find a good one in Kuching...but one stall came close to it is the one at the Expert, RH plaza.

Thai Food 泰国料理

One of the most acceptable asian food internationally is the Thai cuisine. Thank God that we have few good Thai restaurants in Kuching to ease my crave for hot and sour dishes. Both Thai Restaurant at Le Thian and Pandan Delight Thai Reastaurant in RH plaza offers nice Thai food. Just to mention, the papaya salad from Le Thian Thai restaurant is very very nice....emmmm..

Korean Food 韩国料理

All of the Korean food restaurant in Kuching offer quality authentic receipies as all of them runing by Korean. However, my favorite Korean food in Kuching is still the Koreana. They offer nice range of menu and most of all the main course comes with 6 side dishes with variation. Even the side dishes makes my mouth watering...espacially the Kimchi...yum yum. The lady boss is all very nice, used help to carry my child around while we were enjoying the dinner. Do take notice that they have relocated to Premier 101 Commercial Centre...nearer to my house..he he he...

"Fried Pork Leg" 香脆炸猪蹄

Just had an unforgetable dish at the Li Garden, the Fried Pork Leg. I am sure all those who tried the dish will still talk about it days after. I was surprise with the taste too...we all did, from young to old. That evening, we all forget about the colestrol stuff, we kept on going untill it down to the bone. Highly recommended!!

Taiwan Beef Noodle 台湾牛肉面

Talking about Taiwan Beef Noodle, the best one I ever had and still carve for is the one I had in Kaoshiung, Taiwan, the "Da Nui" Beef Noodle. One of my friends became so addicted one time that he had it for lunch and dinner for about a week...everyday! In Kuching, so far I found non came close to it, but a more acceptable is the one at the Wonderful Place in Hui Sing. The one from "Yu Hu Xuan" is ok but not as good.

Peking Duck 北京烤鸭

One particular food that I crave for is the roasted Peking Duck. In Kuching, a more presentable Peking Duck is by the Li Garden at Hock Lee Centre. The duck is nicely blowed to shape and roasted in golden brown colour. In addition, the duck is seasoned nicely...not too salty and not over power with spices. In general, I think the Peking Duck in Kuching is still to conservative; wish to see more taste variation such as the Herbal Peking Duck in JB.

Home Cooked Soup 我家靓汤

Nothing beat the home cooked soup. I especially like three kinds of home cooked soup; the Confinement Chicken Soup, the Pork Leg Cuttlefish Soup, and the Pickled Vege soup with pork or chicken. My mum and wife made the best of all the above!

Pau Pau Pau 包子

Pau the white steamed bun, has been one of the most important chinese traditional fast food for centuries and its one of my favorites too! Personally I like the Meat Pau from the Xin Kwang Fu Chow Big Pau, Char Xiu Pau from the Xiao Ba Wang, and the Vegetarian Pau from the small little stall along the 4th mile road near the long distance bus terminal. Try them and you will agree with me!

Buffet

Ar..yes the buffet, eat until you drop. I have tried many many buffets in many many places. The most enjoyable one is still the buffet I had in Las Vegas...all the king crab and shrimp, and the desserts with rich texture.....yum..yum.. But back in Kuching, so far I think the Crown Princess Hotel still offers the best luring buffet in town with sashimi. The other choice is the one at the Aurora in Merdeka Palace offering the mediterranean cuisine.

Rojak and Sotong Kangkong 优渔蕹菜

Talking about rojak and sotong kangkong brings back a lot of memories indeed. Our family used to go out for dinner or a movie weekly...as a reward for us to be a child. The rojak or sotong kangkong was usually a must. I like it when its still hot and all the stuffs such as fried prawn pancake, fried sweet potato, fried bean curd and you tiao were reshly made. There are some really unforgetable...I like the one in Bintangor market, the one along the beach in Miri, and in Kuching I personally like the one at the Salom cafe at Green Heights.

ABC or Ang Tao Peng 红豆冰

Hot hot hot day..I will crave for a bowl of coconut rich ABC or Ang Tao Peng. Traied many ABC in town but the one came close to my standard is the one at the BDC, the San Xiao Ang Tao Peng. But if you want a bigger bowl portion, you have got to try the one in Chillipepper..you will get lots of ang tao thats for sure...although the taste is so so..

Mixed Pork Soup 猪杂汤

Once a while when I need my colestrol level boosted up, I will go for the Mixed Pork Soup (a combination of pork belly meat, pork intestine, meatballs, fishballs, shrimp and pickled vege). My favorite one is at the Tabuan Laru..near the KSH. I like the taste, the soup, the portion..and mostly the price...only RM4. Just to mention, they have the cheap RM2 kolo mee there too!

Lei Char 客家擂茶

The traditional food of the Kek, Lei Char can be consider as one of the most popular health food in town. My favorite Lei Char is the one at the Thomson corner. But the unforgetable one is the one I had in a small coffee shop along the Batu Kawah...maybe I was too hungry at that moment.

Kam Pua 干盘面

Kam Pua is the favorite dish for the Foo Chows in Sibu and Sarikei. It has becoming more acceptable in Kuching due to the increasing Foo Chows in the city. My favorite Kam Pua is the one at the Expert coffee shop at the Tabuan Heights Commercial Centre.

Kueh Chap

Once a while, if I am not too hungry, I will have Kueh Chap. So far, the best kueh chap I had in Kuching is the one in the Hui Sing food stalls and the Claypot Kueh Chap at the How We coffee shop in the RH Commercial Centre.

Bah Kut Teh 肉骨茶

This is an "imported" dish from the West Malaysia. My favorite one is the Bah Kut Teh at the BDC commercial center. The soup and the portion is just nice....and the price is reasonable. I guarantee you will come back for more. Well...it still doesnt match the one I had in KL...shigh

Kolo Mee 干捞面

Ar...the signature dish of all time for Kuching, the kolo mee. You can find kolo mee in every local coffee shop. I heard it did very well in Singapore too! However, if you want to eat a really good one..you have to find out for yourself. For me, I like the one at Top 10, Jalan Song. The only draw back is the portion...not enough for a big eater like me. Another alternative, is the one in the Hui Sing food stalls cos its cheaper and the portion is just nice for me. And the latest worth trying is the one at the 3rd mile market...the stall number 8.

Salad 沙拉

My favorite salad is the Mr Ho's Fine Dining house special salad. The salad comes with fresh green salad in wine vineger and slices of imported becon ham. The portion is good for two person but I can finish a big whole plate by myself. Ha..

Seafood Plater 海鲜拼盘

My favorite appetiser is the combination seafood plater by Magenta. You wil find fried calamari, oyster, mussel, fish chips and french fries. All the goodies comes with three unique dipping sources. The portion is enough for 2-3 person or maybe four. Very very nice...

Sarawak Laksa

My favorite feel-guilty food is non other than Sarawak Laksa. It is a special dish cook with chicken broth/seafood broth, curry spices and coconut milk, topped with chicken floss, fresh shrimp, stripped fried egg, green pea sprout, and corriander. To add a zinc, the laksa is to be eaten with spicy hot shrimp paste and fresh lime. YUM YUM.....but feel guilty every time after eating due to high colestrol contain.

Bagel 贝果

It was a must whenever I got the chance to travel to US. The unforgetable taste with unique texture; chrips outside and tender inside. Undeniable my favorite simple breakfast...cant get fresh bagel in Kuching so another alternative, the kom pia will do for me.

Donut 甜甜圈

One of my favorite sweet treats..the donut! I have tried the Big Apple donut but the Munchy donut is still my favorite.

Tomato Bee Hun 茄汁米粉

The unforgetable taste from childhood; it brings back mamories...only sweet ones. You know the taste when you take the first bite...yes...thats it! Now I am grown up, the taste somehow vanishing through time. I have been searching for the same tomato bee hun that I used to have during my childhood, unfortunately I was always disappointed with the first bite. However, there is one restaurant in Kuching the coming close to it..after searching for such a long time.
